I recently saw Roger Waters on his current tour now wrapping up in the UK. This was his Dark Side of the Moon tour in which he and his band perform the legendary 1973 album in its entirety as well as an additional set of other Pink Floyd standout tracks and selected Waters solo material. To put it mildly the concert was simply one of the best I’ve ever seen and the overall musicianship demonstrated was mind blowing! Check out some of my pics from the gig below. The soundsystem was state of the art and the visuals and effects that accompanied each song added depth and color to the music. Other than a mid gig rainstorm and some unruly members of the crowd hijacking Waters’ iconic flying pig, the concert was a rousing success.
The concert was held in Atarfe in a local football field. Atarfe is a small bedroom community just south of Granada; in the footfills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range; an outstanding and intimate place to see a gig of this caliber.
The concert affected me so much that I am currently headlong into a Pink Floyd mini-obsession and have just picked up Oh by the Way; the band’s latest boxset offering featuring all 14 studio albums remastered with original artwork, etc. Since picking this up I’ve also burned the collection into my iTunes and have been enjoying some of the less well known albums such as Obscured by Clouds. That’s another post though…
