Regular readers may have noticed the new banner ad on the site recently.  As of now, that’s the only “directly recommended” advertising I’ve allowed on this site.  There’s been lots of talk in the blogosphere lately regarding sponsored posts and blog promoted direct and indirect marketing and advertising.  I prefer to present an impartial and personalized take on items and news that I hope may be of interest to readers out there.  But….I’m going off topic here a bit.

Mario and Luciano Duse are a unique father-son collaborative partnership; working together and independently to create distinctive and compelling photographic art.  A disclaimer here….I’ve known both personally for over 25 years.  Second disclaimer..I really love their artwork and some of it is in my home.

Born and raised in Venice, Italy, Luciano moved to America in 1965 and settled in the beautiful Lake Michigan resort town of Petoskey, Michigan.

Luciano is known for his environmental and landscape photography and creates evocative settings by capitalizing on optimal natural light and a masterful eye for stunning compositions and vantage points.  He has been known to wait for hours and days “in the field” to capture the penultimate image that nature makes available to him.

I’m particularly partial to his northern Michigan images but Luciano has also created some outstanding  photography featuring iconic and natural vantage points in Italy, Cuba and most of Europe. If you’re ever in Petoskey, Michigan, his gallery in the famed Gaslight District on Lake Street should not be missed.

Mario Duse, a fine photographer in his own right, excels in architectural compositions which almost always feature vibrant colors and stark contrasts.   He has traveled the world in search of both historical and modern subject matter for inspiration in his art.

Mario frequently shows his work near his home in San Francisco and also travels to a number of juried art fairs across the United States throughout the summer months.

Mario’s  studio and gallery is located in Point Richmond, California.
